Peli Micro case

The Peli Micro case has been around for some time now and have become very popular with travelers, the water sport fraternity as well as professionals working out hostile environments. The Micro case family consists of six different sized cases

These cases are designed for items such as MP3 players and mobile phones, some of our customers have adapted the case to take walkie-talkies. They are hard shell cases that come in a range of colours (yellow, red, blue, black). Some sizes are clear and have a coloured foam inserts which are interchangeable and easily replaced.

The Micro case is designed to protect contents from dust, water and withstand the odd knock and they float. As with most Peli products of this kind they have a pressure valve on the leading edge of the case which automatically equalises the interior and exterior air pressures, making for easy opening and closing but also keeps the water out.

Depending on which Peli Micro case you get it will come with a carry strap or a mini carabiner which attaches to the side of the case allowing you to secure it in situ. These case are incredibly useful and if you get the version with the clear lids then its very easy to locate your contents.

I have used these in some very hostile locations and they have not failed me, it tends to be the small electronic items that need the most protection and the Peli Micro cases have survived the Atlantic Ocean, the Karakoram mountains, and Inner City London!

If you are intending keeping your Camera in one of these cases be aware that you have to remove it to use the camera. So in wet environments maybe something like the Overboard camera bags would be ideal, although they are soft bags and will not protect from knocks. However the Peli Micro cases will protect and keep the rain/humidity out. My Peli Micros have now got evidence of wear and tear in the shape of scratches on the outer surface and I have over time replaced the coloured liners only to keep my kit colour coded and not from any fault of the case.

Grablet iPad

Moving on from the last Grablet post Bestcase have now got the Grablet for the iPad1 and the iPad2. This is one of the best iPad accessories on the market, allowing you to hold the iPad in one hand whilst you work. It also allows you to use the iPad smart cover and you can hang it from any convenient point whilst you work. We have it attached to the back of a car seat for the long journeys and the 2 adjustable straps make it quick and easy to fix and remove.

The quick ‘snap on, snap off’ manner in which the Grablet is attached to your iPad is a great design, I have linked in the video as I did on the last post and this gives a great demonstration of the Grablet’s versatility.

The Grablet will save you going to the expense of buy those in car mounts and desk stands and the raised edges will protect the screen when you place the iPad face down.

If you want a fully waterproof case for your iPad then this is not the protection accessory you need, you would be better of with one of the cases from Overboard or Peli. However for versatility and one handed secure holding the Grablet is great.

The range of colours are fantastic 12 in all and they can be discreet like the Onyx Black or as bright as the Lava Red.

Bestcase have had these for a few months now and they are proving very popular.

Peli 1510 LOC

The Peli1510 LOC (Laptop Overnight Case) is an upgraded on the Peli1510 standard case. This case has long been a favourite for photographers and other such professionals and is a case that can be trusted to look after and protect whatever is put inside, which is often very expensive and fragile pieces of equipment.

With the Peli1510LOC you get the same outer shell case but it is inside where the difference can be seen. There is a smart padded lid sleeve to accommodate laptops that measure up to 365mm x 281mm x 43mm, and an extra padded pouch to put all your overnight essentials into.

Apart from exactly the same technical specifications as the 1510 and the fact that it’s size is compatible with the in-flight hand lugage restrictions on most airlines the Peli1510 LOC  is a smart looking piece of kit. The easily extend able pull handle and high durability wheels allow the 1510 LOC to glide over those airport concourses and easily tackle the urban outdoor surface you may encounter.

The case is cloth lined to protect garments and the laptop pouch is detachable, giving you a light weight option when on the move. There is also a removable pouch for computer accessories which are also detachable.

This item is one of Bestcase’s best sellers and is well worth investing in if you need to any form of travelling – commuting or long haul.

Peli 1510 Case

The Peli 1510 that Bestcase have supplied to many photographers has been put through some pretty testing environments and not surprisingly come through with glowing reports.

The Peli1510 is one of the most popular sized cases the Peli make, due to the fact that it complies with the  hand luggage restrictions for most major airlines. The Peli1510 is a wheeled case and the the strong construction has had it pulled across relatively smooth urban sites as well as the more challenging mountainous regions of the globe.

To start the Peli1510 can be internally configured in a number of ways to suit all. The basic interior options are of course empty, in which case just fill it as you wish, or Peli’s ‘Pick ‘n’ Pluck’ foam. The foam is a great way to customize your case interior for equipment that the case is solely intended for. However if you want to put different cameras, lens or computers into the case replacing the foam is not really going to work, you may need to buy another foam insert. Not a problem as they are sold separately on our site. The high density foam will hold your kit in place if your case is dropped or kicked, however if you intend to be using the case for a range of say different lens for different assignments the the divider sets are the things to use.

The ‘divider-sets’ are a great way to add and adjust the interior of the case to fit what ever pieces of kit you put in them and as the are constructed from highly durable nylon and Velcro they withstand lots of ‘wear and tear’.  we have customers in the professional world of photography and film making who swear by these kits and can reconfigure there cases to accommodate any new equipment or equipment updates that they purchase, hence making the Peli1510 immune to new technology. In fact some people have one Peli1510 and two sets of dividers, thus allowing them to quickly change the case interior and equipment they need for any particular job.

I have always rated this case and with the Peli1510 LOC it has now gained a following with the city professionals who travel on overnight trips and need not just a change of clothes but also need to be sure there electronics and computers are well protected.(The PELI1510 LOC blog).

This is a great piece of kit and even if you prefer to carry you kit on your back there will always be room in you equipment list for a Peli1510, even if it is just used to sit on.
